This is ridiculously loud. Would be awesome fun on a track or something. Loud cars are just fun. These little cars are actually extremely loud. You will not believe how loud it can get. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

I love how they sound, but if you drive through a city sounding like that your're an asshole. But wow does that sound nice!

That's too much. If he drives that on public roads he's a dick.
Heck, something that loud even at autocross is too much. Someone had a straight piped E30 (? I think? Old bmw) at autocross a while back, it was painfully loud.
I like engine noise as much as the next guy, but this is too much for anything besides a race track

This acts the same as my Miata. Mine has a straight through performance muffler though

Unless I've been massively deceived, he'll get tired of having his brain rattling about and hopefully tone that down a bit

Any pictures of the exhaust setup? Do the straight pipes cross over between the two sides of the boxer?
It sounds like two large 2-cylinder motors, reminding me more of a Harley than anything else. I don't like that.

If your car puts out more decibels than horsepower, that only makes you an asshole. I love me some engine noise, but as with all boxer engines this sounds like shit. Shit turned up to 11.

I am 98% sure that this is mostly a track car. He drives it to the track and back.
And just remember it can be louder! Ever stood behind an F1 car. I have a video and two people recoiled immediately on camera (there were another few that left. . .) . It is unbelievable loud.
I used to play drums and those were like dead silence compared to this.

What...what in god's name did he do to that car?? Is he planning on turning it into a dedicated track car or something? I'm so confused by this.

Unequal length headers is what gives it that sound(he showed a picture of the headers). There is no crossover, it is just a 4 into 1 and then 1 pipe all the way to the end.

If I wanted to remove the muffler on my car it would still have a cat and a resonator, so it won't be obnoxious, but it would still be obnoxious.

Yea no resonator and no cat for me. Only the muffler. Mine is just how he describes his but less noise

Oh, for some reason I thought the video ended after the flyby. There's a lot more!
I've heard of boxer units that would cross the exhaust over (X pipe) to get a more 'even' sound, but I don't care much for sound-tuning exhaust, so I don't know enough to guess if it would make this car sound better.

Impossible! An F1 car doesn't even reach beyond 200dB(not much does) so that is impossible in a FRS!

He's probably running unequal length headers, like an STI motor, versus the original equal length setup.

I don't know, I happen to like the boxer rumble, but that's a product of unequal length headers. At 50 seconds is a Boxer with equal length headers, what do you think of that?

Don't think he has airbags, which might explain the beeping and the light.

I know in the old days with Porsches they used to do 6 into 2 into 1 exhausts. They found out that keeping the two sides separated completely provided the best gains. A bit more expensive to do that though, twice as many cats and mufflers. I don't know if that would work for a 4-cylinder boxer.

You'd think he'd fix that. Also it looks like the driver's airbag is still in, which is retarded for a "shed every pound" track car. For one airbags are unsafe for cars cars, and two a racing steering wheel would be much lighter. Also he doesn't have a rollcage so I'm not buying the whole track car thing.

I loled too. I care a little which is why I don't do. But I so want to have something so I can remove the muffler and not melt the bumper, when I want to not care.

Well you don't need a roll cage to drive on the track. I am sure he has steering wheels in mind. Not everything happens overnight! He has a build thread I just can't find it though. . .

"Not everything happens overnight"
I suppose that is a good point. to me to a roll cage, and steering proper steering wheel would have come much before a light weight exhaust, on a track car build. But that's just my opinion which is almost worthless.

Well if you didn't give a fuck, I'd say bolt a piece of metal onto the bumper near the exhaust so it won't melt it. And it'd look badass!

To be fair the FRS has a fantastic steering wheel stock, so there is no point in changing it. Also roll cages are usually welded to the chassis, so once you do it, it is hard to reverse. . . although I don't think he wants to sell the car.

Well if I remove the muffler(the exhaust isn't stock) the pipe will shoot up and into the reverse tail lights, I need a way to point it to the ground!!

Just listened to the part at :50. I just can't believe people actually like that sound lol. Low cylinder count, low displacement engine noises just aren't my thing.

No interior or sound deadening, equals one small metal echo chamber. I'd sure hate to be in that thing for more than just a few laps at a time, even with ear plugs.

we had a customer with an FR-S like this and yes, he did drive it on the street. We were taking bets as to how far he would get before getting arrested.
I cannot fathom making this much noise for so little power.
